Magical, Mystical, Metallic Majors

There’s a whole week or tarot art coming up! This one is a kicker of a way to start things off:

Death by Lakandiwa

Found this set of Majors a few nights ago and got completely caught up in the lines and details. I love how the artist has created something very unusual and deeply symbolic with not many colours or large areas of shading.

The metallic pens on the black background are the perfect medium for the themes the artist uses (I think I see a lot of magickal? Gnostic? references) and the way he chooses to portray the figures. Showing structured musculature (almost as if the skin has bee stripped away) in combination with the areas of intricate detail – eg. wing feathers, facial decorative marks etc – makes the figures seem otherworldy and “worthy” of holding Arcane knowledge. The could be angels or demons or creatures we’ve never encountered before, but they are definitely powerful.

View all 22 Majors in the artist’s gallery, along with many other pieces (zodiac, elements, spirits, dreams etc.) that are equally hypnotic. Go NOW!

Ah, I’m looking forward to it! I’ve literally only just started reading Tarot so I’ve been dropping by often to have a look around.

    These cards are beautiful.
I really, really, really want to get a set of the new version of the quantum tarot when it comes out next year too!

I’m always so glad to see something that’s not another Lo Scarabeo clone of itself (do they only have one artist drawing ALL their decks?). Wow, these are amazing. Any idea if the artist is going to publish them?

Marks will be awarded for participation
