Comic-Like Tarot Deck in Progress

Saw this one on the forums, designed by wlashack. The first thing that came to mind for me was Barbapapa!

I’m really liking the colour scheme and the simplified lines. I’m always fascinated to see how much can be stripped away, while still maintaining the essence of what something is. It will be interesting to see how the rest of the deck progresses and what symbols are chosen to illustrate the Minors. Done correctly, this could be an excellent and approachable deck for beginners and people who are intimidated by the more traditional tarot and obviously good for kids’ readings too.

It’s a fun thing, but I don’t think I could take a deck like this seriously, the images that are shown lack any real depth of symbolism for me . I truly would not suggest it myself as a beginners deck, – you say “’m always fascinated to see how much can be stripped away, while still maintaining the essence of what something is” but you see the essence because you have already looked studied and understood a traditional deck – a beginner is not armed with this information.

I think it is taking the time to understand and study the RW is what helps beginners to understand tarot and be able to read all the other clones – some good and some like I feel this deck is ,not so good. But of course those looking for a quick fix – tarot reader in 5 mins would certainly find a deck like this appealing just look at the picture and say what comes out the top of your head – or is that called intuitive reading LOL

Sorry to sound so… well you know…:O)
